Lorde has announced her new Solar Power world tour in 2022.

The pop sensation, whose real name is Ella Yellich-O`Connor, will perform her first live shows in four years as she travels across the globe with songs from her third album Solar Power.

The 24-year-old will kick off her tour in February, performing in Christchurch, New Zealand, before before heading to , Sydney, and in March.

She will then continue the tour in America, Canada, Britain and Europe, performing her final final show in Berlin on June 23.

Announcing the news to fans in a newsletter this week, Lorde wrote: `This is gonna be such a sick tour.` 

`This is, thrillingly, something of an intimate tour. Theatres and green fields rather than arenas,` she explained.

Lorde also announced in the newsletter that she will release her long-awaited studio album Solar Power on August 20.  

According to her website, Lorde`s new album will not be available on CD `to honour the natural world`, and will instead be released in `a first-of-its kind discless format`.

However, fans can purchase an `eco-conscious music box` as an alternative to a CD.

Lorde had teased her album release date earlier this month when she updated her website with a video of herself sitting on the sand, alongside the caption `Solstice`.

Eagle-eyed fans cleverly speculated that Lorde would announce her new album on the first day of the winter-summer solstice, June 21. 

The news comes just two weeks after Lorde dropped her new song Solar Power - the first single from her forthcoming album and her first musical release in four years.
